MobileMap Roads

MobileMap Roads streamlines data collection by providing efficient data management workflows and fast field data collection processes. Just like MobileMap standard, MobileMap Roads is built using ArcGIS and integrates with your enterprise GIS. This means you can easily download existing road data for inspection in the field, and you can seamlessly upload your field collected data to ArcGIS for further editing, analysis and reporting. 

MobileMap Roads user interface is optimized for fast collection of field data.   It provides one-touch data collection – simply tap once on the well-marked collection button and GPS data are captured for point features like culverts and gates, or initiated for line features like road centerlines, roadwork or vegetation removal zones.  Because road attributes often overlap, MobileMap Roads supports the capture of multiple features simultaneously.   

 Collection of road data in the field carries with it inherent risks – data collection happens on the road, while travelling in a vehicle. Whether operating independently or as a part of a 2-person crew, road data collection must be fast and easy to minimize the distraction and the amount of time required. This allows operators to stay focused on the challenges of safe  road travel. 

MobileMap Roads one-touch data collection allows operators to quickly initiate data collection without having to work through menus or fill out lengthy forms.  Simultaneous feature collection saves time by eliminating the need to interrupt collection of one feature just to collect an overlapping feature.  For example, a user can collect a culvert location as they drive over the culvert crossing, without having to stop and restart the road centerline they are mapping.  Each little bit of efficiency translates to increased safety by reducing the amount of time spent collected data and focused on the data collection application. 

MobileMap Roads is a flexible and configurable data collection application.  It accommodates a wide range of workflows and data needs.  MobileMap Roads presents the user with options to collect any features that are in their GIS database and uses the symbology, attribute fields, and business logic.  Common data types include road centerlines, road segments needing roadwork, road segments needing vegetation management, culverts, bridges and gates and more. 

MobileMap Roads supports a range of data collection and editing methods.  While GPS data collection is the most common approach to capturing new data, data can also be collected via ‘heads-up’ digitizing over imagery and topography base maps.  Existing data can be taken into the field and edited in terms of geometry and attributes. 

MobileMap Roads is a native Android application and can run on a wide range of mobile devices.  This includes devices with high quality internal GPS units, or devices that are connected to Bluetooth enabled GPS units. This ensures that road data collected with MobileMap Roads will meet your spatial data quality requirements.  By supporting large offline base maps, road data can also be digitized in the field using high-precision imagery or topographic data. 

MobileMap Roads ensures high quality data capture through the use of robust data models and powerful validation.  By leveraging ArcGIS as the data storage solution, the data models used in specify the data types, allowed values and required fields.  This ensures that data collected will conform with your organizations data collection standards.  Support for default values, pick lists, photo collection are all available when features require detailed attribute data to be populated during or after field data collection.
